"Where Every Animal Is Special"
Our Border Collies
Our Border Collies are quality, working dogs that are treasured members of our family. Each is special, and all are different in many ways. While they are extremely active, they are also laid-back and can be very quiet. Our Border Collies are not hyper. We use these dogs on the farm, helping us with our goats, sheep, ducks, and occasional bucket calves. While we do compete for titles, all-around family and working dogs are our first priority.
Our dogs are registered with ABCA (American Border Collie Association), AKC (American Kennel Club) and are recorded with the ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America), which allows us to compete for titles in a less political show atmosphere as AKC. We trial only in performance events. While we do feel that the dog's body should hold up to a working level, we do not believe everything should be about looks, as is the case in conformation.

"Janie" is a heavy boned, athletically built tri colored female. She was born December 9, 2001, bred by Darel Baker of Rolla, MO. She has great herding instinct and is our main "helper" around the farm. She is out of stock used on cattle and horses, so she is very gritty. She does not back down from a stray cow, but knows when to be gentle enough for ducks. Janie loves obedience, rally, and agility. At the 2006 MO State Fair 4-H and FFA Dog Show, Janie placed first in Rally Advanced. She also received the High Point Rally trophy by having the highest score of the 55 dogs entered in Rally. Janie also placed first out of 52 dogs in the Agility 1 off-lead at the 2006 National 4-H Agility Show at the American Royal. Janie is Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog, International certified. Currently we are working towards her AKC CD and RA titles. Janie also is a great disc dog, and loves to play soccer, basketball, baseball, foot ball; you name, she plays it. We often use her as a co-outfielder in our family baseball games. She is a wonderful all-around dog; the ultimate farm/family dog. We take her with us many places and she has become loved by all who know her. Janie's puppies are great herding, agility, obedience and flyball prospects.

"Marti" is a athletically built tri colored female bred and born here on our farm. She is out of BWF Dixie and Bud (OFA good hips, normal elbows, CERF certified). She was born May 5, 2005. Marti has a lot of import lines, mainly from Wales. She is Teri's dog and is a great all-around dog. Marti placed fifth out of 54 dogs entered in the 4-H Rally I class at the Missouri State fair on August 14th, 2007. She won her agility class at the Warren County fair in July 2008. We hope she will make an excellent obedience, agility, and rally dog. Her herding background is excellent.

"Nike" placed third in rally at the MO State Fair out of 56 dogs!
"Nike" (Greek for "Victory" or "Winner") is a blue splash coat female. She is a true self blue, not a merle. This can be confirmed by her blue nose leather-- "blue" merles (really blacks with the merle pattern imposed over the black) have black noses. We have great hopes for this little gal. She was born June 15, 2006, bred by Twin Cedars of Kentucky. Nike is now a certified therapy dog and will be able to visit nursing homes, libraries, and hospitals for pet-assisted therapy. Nike is Tora's obedience, agility, herding, and rally dog. Nike is a quick learner and shows great interest in herding and agility.

"Bud" is a black and white rough coated male. He weighs 40 lbs and was born October 5th, 2003. Bud was bred by Robert and Pat Lewis of Macon, MO. He has a nice mostly import pedigree from England with Great Britain national and international herding champions. His sire, Imp. Don, was a direct import from England and winner of multiple herding titles. "Don" was still working livestock (cattle, hogs, and sheep) at age 10. Bud's dam was bred by Orin Barnes of Canyon, TX. Bud is dually registered with the AKC and ABC. Bud now lives on a feeder calf operation in IL where he helps with the day to day work of the cattle.

Our Special Dogs
These dogs are spayed/neutered dogs that have become cherished members of our family.
"Tippy" is a heavy built
tri colored spayed female. She is not registered. Her approximate birthday is January
15, 1999. She was our first Border Collie, and a rescue as well. She won our
hearts and sparked our love for Border Collies. She excels in
obedience, and has placed first in many 4-H shows. She received first place in Novice
obedience at the Missouri State Fair in 2001. Recently she placed 1st of 50 in
Rally Novice at the MO State Fair 4-H and FFA Dog Show. Tippy received her CD
title
with the ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America). Tippy is now CGC (AKC's
Canine Good Citizen) and TDI (Therapy Dog International) tested and certified.
She is a welcome guest in our local nursing home, and loves assisting Tora in
dog education talks. She also excels in
agility, having won several 4-H agility matches. Due to an accident when
she was a puppy, she does not like herding sheep and goats, but is always
helpful in herding ducks and horses. She enjoys semi-retirement, but loves to accompany us
to a trial for a jaunt in the veteran's ring.

"Ben" is a beautiful black and white
neutered male. Ben came to us after being rescued by a friend from a home where
he was abused. He was extremely scared of men, and shy around any person.
After months of hard work, he loves women and children,
but
is still slightly shy around men. We feel that he has come a long way from the
dog we could barely touch in August of 2003. Ben was born April 17, 2002, bred
by Darel Baker, of Rolla, MO. He is registered with ABCA,
AKC, and recorded with the ASCA. He has been a "4-H dog" since spring of 2004,
completing 4 courses of 4-H training. He has had basic obedience
training and basic agility training. He has a strong drive to herd. Ben is out
of cattle stock and is a big help with our calves. Currently we
are competing in AKC Rally trials with Ben. We are proud to announce that he
successfully completed the Canine Good Citizen testing, even with his innate fear
of strangers and storms (it was raining the night of the test). He also
qualified in Rally three times, giving him the honor of a Rally Novice degree. He now proudly
carries both the well-deserved titles behind his name.

In Loving Memory
"Dixie" was a tri but most unusual. She was black and tan, but where most borders are white she was mottled. She was a sweet girl but shy. She was not socialized at all before she came to us, and was wary of strangers. She had accepted our family and was well on her way to becoming an excellent house dog. She had excellent bloodlines, with many import dogs on her pedigree. She was bred by Dave Birch of Birchwood Farms in Perry, MO.
Sadly, Dixie had a hard labor
and needed an emergency C-section after her first puppy, Marti May, was
delivered normally. Dixie did fine during the surgery, but as the vet was
putting in the last few staples, she coded on the table. All attempts were made
to bring her back, but she had suffered a stroke. Though we did not expect her
to make it through the night, we brought her home. Dixie died at 4:30, May 5,
2005. She had six wonderful puppies, whom we hand-raised. Dixie loved puppies,
as you can see by the photo at the right, where she is "helping" with Janie's
puppies.
