Poultry

We raise domestic single breasted bronze turkeys; traditional Ameraucana and Turkauna chickens; and Indian Runner ducks. Contact us for available poultry.

Single breasted bronze turkeys resemble wild turkeys in many ways. The coloring is very similar, and single breasted turkeys have the ability to fly.

Single breasted bronze tom turkeys hatched spring 2006 and spring of 2007

Our Runner ducks (out of stock from Wade Burkhalter, Sedalia, MO)  come in a wide variety of colors such as blue splash, chocolate, and mallard. We also have the traditional fawn and white and solid white available.

Ameraucanas chickens are blue or green egg layers. They are a medium sized breed that come in a large variety of colors and patterns. They have great foraging instinct, which make them ideal for our free range system. Ameraucanas are often confused with Araucanas. Although both Ameraucana and Araucanas lay colored eggs, there are several differences. Ameraucanas have tails, beards, and muffs on their face. Araucanas do not have tails (they actually lack the entire tail head) and they do have ear tufts.

Ameraucana cockerel  hatched April 29th available.

Our Turkauna chickens are Tora's own special creation of Turken and Ameraucana crosses. These chickens were created to produce large chickens that lay large, colored eggs. Turkens were chosen for their large, unique appearance, and large brown eggs. Ameraucanas were chosen for their colored eggs and lovely patterns and colors. Turkaunas come in all patterns that Ameraucanas do, but have the Turken bare neck.  Because of the excellent broodiness instinct (and the ability to raise the chicks) of the Turkens and the foraging ability of the Ameraucanas, these chickens make excellent free range birds. All of the Turkaunas we sell are at least 3/4 Ameruacana.

Our newest arrival!

This is our first solid blue Turkauna chick.

This lovely hen "Oddball" has retained her beautiful blue color. She is a keeper for sure!
